Health Checks at Markets and Agricultural Events
Health and well-being checks at livestock markets and agricultural shows and events are increasing in number and availability.
Their aim is to support the mental and physical health of those in rural communities and to signpost to other services if appropriate.
Qualified nurses are on hand, with no appointment necessary, to carry our basic health screening, such as blood pressure and cholesterol checks. Some even offer PSA testing or chiropody treatments. All will listen to your concerns, and follow up with you where necessary.

The Warwickshire Rural Hub brings together health and welfare professionals at Rugby Farmers’ Mart at Stoneleigh Park. Working from the Cafe, nurses from Parish Nursing Ministries UK take blood pressure readings and are available for private consultations. They are able to make referrals and give out guidance and appropriate information. Free back massages are regularly available, and the opportunity for farmers to talk to someone about any mental health issues – from bereavement to sleep problems to financial worries – is always present.

Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire are served by the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network’s nurses at Louth and Melton Mowbray livestock markets, machinery dealerships in Lincolnshire, and shows and events across the entire East Midlands area.
